As a Christian: How do you deal with mean, angry, impatient, and just wicked people?
Question by razzledazzleem: As a Christian: How do you deal with mean, angry, impatient, and just wicked people?
As Christians, the Bible teaches us that we are supposed to be the "salt of the earth." We are supposed to set an example for others and be just generally good, moral people. Temperance is a big virtue, as also is charity and kindness, patience. But what about those around us?
For example, in day-to-day life...I encounter like 90% of individuals who are just angry, they are miserable souls. Look no further than your nightly news to see the atrocities that people commit against one another. But, I'm talking more in terms of things that we come face to face with. Rudeness, people yelling at you or others for no good reason. Greed and stinginess when a person doesn't get a sale price and starts yelling at the supermarket employee.
Angry cursing all the time in public (which I am sometimes guilty of as well), littering, not helping someone in need. Also, I work at a store in the inner city and in my life have not encountered so many people who think it's all about "them." They want special favors. They steal stuff. This is a T-Mobile phone store, mind you. If we are closed, they start banging on the windows in anger.
So, with all of these things and nasty, wicked people among us who are not "saved" and just downright immoral, how do we treat them? Are we supposed to, like Christ said, treat others how we wish to be treated...Okay, that's fine. I never resort to being mean back. But if I saw someone hurting I child, I would probably knock them out. I believe there are very few decent people left in this depraved society, and as Christians and humans, we must just deal with it...But doesn't it kind of suck that everyday life is so cold and it's the same dark faces all the time of misery and sadness, strife, conceit, greed, girls walking around in skimpier and skimpier outfits (guys dressing with their boxers out?)
We have strippers coming in to our store who pay for phones with dollar bills. Am I supposed to smile and be nice because I'm a Christian? I have people cussing me out after giving them a discount that most customers don't even get. It seems we live in a world where no one really gives a "darn" about anyone but themselves (ie. look at bars where guys and girls grind each other, only to yell at one another in tears at 2 AM).
The great thing is that so many of these individuals go around with "fancy" crosses around their neck or those ubiquitous "Celtic cross" tattoos. So you just slapped your girlfriend? But you have a nice tattoo of a cross, good job, dude!
How do you guys deal with this depravity in society? And what do you believe is the Christian way of handling most of these sad, wicked individuals in today's times?
Thanks. God Bless.

You don’t deal with them you just let them go there own way.
But, you also have to keep in mind that you don’t know how this person’s day has been or what influenced them to act this way.

All people who are filled with darkness hate us. They hated Jesus and the servant is not greater than the master. If we didnt love our enemies there would be no one left for us to love.

With love and prayers
I think we have to realize that the world is indeed evil, but we shouldn’t let that influence or bring us down. Instead, we should use it as motivation to help others and perhaps encourage them to get on the right track.

That depends on the situation.
One time when I drove truck for a living (I am now retired) I went into a receivers office and the woman there started yelling at me as soon as I walked in the door, and was nothing but rude. After about a minute of her berating me because of something another driver did before I got there I calmly told her that I was going to leave and go out to my truck, and that she could come and get me when she found her happy place. I sat out there for 6 hours, and when the next shift showed up the woman on that shift came out and got me, laughing about what I said to the other woman. The great part was that I made an extra 400 dollars on that delivery because I get paid detention pay (paid extra if I have to wait over a certain amount of time).

When ever i come encounter with an angry person or something of that matter i treat them with respect, don’t retaliate in any way, smile, tell them to have a nice day and keep on going. As Christians we set an example, i like to refer to “what would Jesus do” in a situation like those.
God will take care of the wicked in the ways they deserve, as for all of the believers who are true followers, there is nothing to worry about! God will take care of His children!

A stripper paying her phone bill would not bother me.
Perhaps you need a new line of work. One in which you have no contact with anyone who does not believe as you do.
I’m sure Jesus would approve of a career change.

The same way you deal with anyone else, love them.
Matt 5:38-48 (NIV):
38 ”You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’
39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.
41 If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
43 ”You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?
47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
In these passages, Jesus calls his followers to a higher standard – much higher than what is found in the Pentateuch, or the Law of Moses. He was not speaking metaphorically. A principle of Biblical interpretation is that the words should be taken at their face value unless the context would dictate otherwise.
Do these passages apply to modern believers? The answer is yes. Jesus did not equivocate in his message; therefore it applies to all believers, in all ages. Notice that he refers to evil as well as unrighteous people. The implication is that we cannot water down the word ‘enemy’ to be merely those with whom we disagree, or those who irritate us. Instead, we are clearly commanded to love evil and unrighteous people. In the following verses, Jesus’ disciples observed, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?
